This coulda been an uber shot. Missing is the top of the framed picture on the back wall and the blatant crapola on the right edge of the frame. The palm leaves left frame really don't add too much. A gridded spot on the pooch would've been a nice touch. Love the PoV and the rest of the setup. The hound is adorable.

Well noted. I'll try it again tomorrow. As far as the picture frame in the back goes, I think if I were to zoom out the picture would lose the effect and a lot of other stuff would come into the shot. Also, what do you mean by a gridded spot?

Hmmmm, I like this. Normally, I'm NOT a fan of centered composition, but IMO this really works. The only suggestion I have is to level it.

John is right. It is a light modifier the takes your bare flash and narrows the beam. It is very effective to spotlight certain parts of the scene without illuminating the entire scene. In your case, the dog. A touch more dedicated light would enhance the overall IMO.

For a bit more technical...... White Lightning: Professional Photographic Flash Units and Accessories There are other resources, but this is all I got tonight.

To solve one of Kundalini's issues, take a second image panned up to catch the top of the frame, merge it together carefully to make a complete picture frame with your current composition, an nobody would be the wiser!

Cool shot!

love this shot, i agree with kundalini about the frame and the stuff on the right side. i really love this picture tho regardless of that stuff. great job!

Or just shoot wider and crop with a different aspect ratio to keep the table on the bottom, and include the top of the picture. this might do well as a square comp.
