i've heard people talking about shooting in RAW format, but what does this mean? how does it help? how is it different than shooting regular? just wondering this is somthing new to me and i'd love to use it to my advantage. thanks!
you can take a look here. They explain it better than I can... http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/understanding-series/u-raw-files.shtml
Try a search of the forums...it may take some digging...but this question has been asked at least 20 or 30 times before. I usually refer people to this article 'Why RAW'...it's a bit older but I suggest reading it.
After you research it, you'll understand why so many people prefer it to .jpg. It allows for more dynamic range between shadows and highlights, which is huge. Plus the amount of PP that can be done to a RAW image vs that of a .jpg. Good stuff.
yes wow, i had no idea how my detail and customization i was losing by using the regular mode. i will either start shooting raw right away, ( i have photoshop ) or ease into it but either way i will be using it. thanks so much!
