Could Use Some Help

As some of you are aware, I'm working on my second novel. Neither is published, but I honestly think the story in this one is good enough to make it... as long as I can tighten it up.

I'm in the later stages of the book and basically on the last pass... right now is all about dealing with a few fundamental issues and hard-core stripping of erroneous crap.

I think it's very close. I've gotten some great feedback from some folks here, including Lew who ripped me a new one (and deservedly so) over the first chapter.

I'm making this sound wicked awesome, aren't I? lol

Anyway... I'm looking for some volunteers to read the chapters as I grind them through the final edits and let me know anything that did or didn't work for them. This isn't an editing read... no need for copy-editing and such... just an honest read-through to see what you think.

It's an urban fantasy, btw. There are some bad words and bad situations in the book, so there is a bit of a content warning. This isn't for kids. The crux of the story is this... "A career antiquities thief dies, and finds herself conscripted as God's assassin.". There's more to it than that, but that's the root of it.

Yeah, well…I was the youngest of 5 kids (7 really, when you consider that my two cousins lived next door). I'm used to abuse; if I don't get a certain amount of it daily, evidently I seek it out. :lmao:

The way I figure it: You need some NEW people to read the revised stuff with "fresh" eyes and minds. They don't know how it read before, so you're getting those good "gut" reactions to the book.
But you ALSO need some re-reads; those who DID it read before and who can say, "oh yeah, now you're on the right track" or else point out things that they LIKED about it before that you've taken out or changed.

Not that I'd be likely to point a lot of those things out. I'm getting to that age where EVERY book you read or movie you watch is fresh and new…even when you just read/watched it a month ago…
