Two pictures from a trip to Thailand last November:

[Frequency]

#1; the white of the paper ball in the foreground fails to keep a good distinction from the pagoda in the background; so a better view point is recommendable?
#2; Here the glitter from the rest of the idols in the background is a bit distracting??? here a vertical frame could have been better???

And possibly fill flash and a faster shutter to kill some of the ambient background in both pics may have provided some pop to your subjects too.
