I've been trying to resurrect some old slides from the 1970s and came across these images from a visit to "old" Covent Garden market in London before it was transformed into a "festival marketplace" and the produce and flower merchants moved to "New Covent Garden" in 1974.

Many of the images (all shot as Agfachrome slides) have faded or become overly tinted, so I copied them all in B&W. which doesn't especially take away from the feel in my view. These were all shot in very low light around dawn, so there's some blurring and not much DOF in many shots. All were shot using a Nikon F Photomic with a 43-86mm macro zoom.

Eliza Doolittle was nowhere in sight.

Brilliant. I love old historic pics like that. If I remember correctly my first trip to London was 72-73 so that's how it would have looked then.

Those are all great, historic images. I never saw it as a real market.

Great photos. I lived in London 74-77, and that's just how I remember it.
