Nice shot. We just got over our 'invasion' of these guys. Every year about this time we are innundated with them, then they seem to just disappear.

do they get predated, where do they go?

They way I understand it is that crane flies have a short lifespan (10-15 days). They lay their eggs in wet areas, many times small puddles left from recent rains. Our rainy season ends usually around May sometime then starts again in November/December. We don't see them much here in summer and autumn.
