I've been asked to shoot a job where they are requesting that I make the distant landscapes appear closer than they are in relation to the foreground. What is the best way to go about this? and which lenses would you recommend?

you mean make the background look like it's close to the foreground? or in front of it? lol.

If you want the first...

Use the longest lens available to you. It's called lens compression.

200mm makes things appear really close together.

If you are meaning the second...then you must consult the creator of the universe...cause it's not possible.

In theroy, pending subject, multiple shots at diffrent ranges and some photoshop layers may be capable of producing something to that effect...ish maybe.

What he said.

The longer the focal length of the lens, the better.
