Hey.
I've been hanging around tpf.com for a while now and i only just got a camera so i thought I'd post up some of my first picks. I'd really appreciate comments and critique.

the only editing i've done is auto color and auto levels in PS. if anyone has an idea for a crop I'd really appreciate it....i couldnt get one that looked right.

PS. i know the money and headphones white balance is out, but i like the wamth.

ok can anyone tell me why my images from flickr aren't working?
i'm copying their URL into the image text box? is this correct?

Because your image urls are like this:
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1165/882428606_11d55622d1.jpg?v=0

The problem with this picture is the URL ends with ?v=0

The forum realizes thats a bogus file extension for an image and won't display pictures with links like that. You'll need to cut it down to the file extension.

A link like this would do the trick:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1165/882428606_11d55622d1.jpg

I really like the money and the coins even without the correct white balance. As you said it adds a warmth to them. However I believe #3 is overexposed and a bit too saturated for my taste. If it was a bit darker you would regain the detail and you could then brighten the parts you wanted in PS, though I forgot what the exact tool was. Other then that fantastic.

I like the pic of the rose breasted cockatoo. But I'm a sucker for parrots. Wish the were indigenous around here. We raised them for a while and got good money for hand fed babies. Rosies make great pets. I understand down there they are considered pest birds like our crows.
If I were to advise, it could have been a little better if the background was not as cluttered and the birds head were turned to see it's eye or even both eyes. JMHO.

jstuedle: in Australia there called Gallahs. And nope not pests but I'm sure that a big flock of them could do some serious damage to a wooden veranda railing though.
