Critique in Columbia :)

This is a picture I took in Columbia, South Carolina and I am just looking for some criticism in the **** and editing possibly. I've been shooting for about 8 months now and just in the last 3 has it become a serious hobby of mine. Thank you all for time.

Im still learning all this as well - so take this for what it is worth
I think that your image would have benefited by using a tripod or some sort of stabilisation, if possible, so that the landscape isnt blurry.
perhaps moving so that the persons face is in front of the building so that it is more defined, as it is the head and face lose their shape and merge in to the black of the background.
Other than that I think it is a very good image. I am guessing it was not staged or posed and if so it is a very good capture and tells a story.

I really like this image. The only tip I could give you on this image is perhaps shooting closer to the person. Besides that, I would love to see a large print of this.

By the way, I have been shooting for 8 months as well! :mrgreen:

I agree with the tripod comment, I like the overall idea of the image but it would benefit from a bit less blur on the still objects. What was your shutter speed if I might ask?

Other than the blurriness I'd have to say I really like it. Nice work.

I appreciate the comments from everyone. As a matter of fact (hopefully it doesn't ruin your views of the picture). This picture was staged. That is actually me sitting there and I took the picture with a shutter release remote. Which has me wondering how exactly the picture got blurred, because it was in fact in a tripod. And the shutter speed was 2 or 3 seconds I believe.

Hmm, that's odd... were you on a bridge or some sort of overpass by any chance? Bridges do tend to move quite a bit (at least enough to blur a photo taken with that long of a shutter speed) when vehicles are passing over them.

Other than the blurriness I really like the composition, well done.

Good point! That is actually a bridge so that makes sense. Probably just moved enough to blur the background like you said. Thanks again!
