Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Since there has been a TON of threads about DX cameras and wide angle lens, I thought posting some straight out of the camera pics would be a good idea.

All of these were shot with the D5300 and the Nikon 10mm-24mm DX lens

Please note:

1. These shots have NOT been edited in ANY way, in order to say that, I did not even straighten these or ANYTHING. You can even see my finger in a couple shots.
2. These were JPGS FINE, shot at medium size.
3. If you shot these is RAW, edited them for color/contrast/ect, and straighten them, of course you would get a better final result.
4. Most of these were shot in wait for it.........AUTO MODE..................*gasp*.
5. The 2 night shots were handheld and not braced in any way. I literally just stopped in the middle of walking to take the pic. They were set on the scene mode "night landscape"
6. The distortion is what it is. I have NOT corrected these for any distortion ( obviously ).
7. You can see I took some photos that had harsh shadows and bright sun, so you can get an idea of how come out in those situations. Photos 7 and 8 had the bright sun directly in frame.
8. Photo 11 was shot with the in camera HDR. It take 2 photos and combines them in to 1.

Obviously this thread is to help out someone that is thinking about getting this lens or maybe even curious about the d5300.

For the more season vets, or anyone really, if you could give me some feedback on if I should work on any of these shots to make a final edit, that would be great. Basically if you have any favorites that you think might be keepers.

Hi,

The first thing that jumps out at me is the distortion, it is really bad, as you already mentioned. I'd like to see a side by side of one of these before and after correction. Especially #3.

Much better

Lightroom will let you adjust the amount of distortion by enabling the lens profile correction or with the sliders. It makes it nice and easy.

any shots at 24mm? or are you just 10mm happy right now?

The thing that stands out most, like others said, is that distortion. The above edit looks good.

but what's really bothering me is your framing--a lot of your shots are 50-70% sky, try to keep the angle of your shots more level to the ground. I'd rather you give up a lot of the sky to gain back ANY foreground.

I think that will also help with your distortion issues, where shot #9 looks much better in both regards but was still shot at 10mm.

someone who knows something can say what to fix i like 13!
