REAL quick. dont know how one would measure the delay, you turn the camera on, and shoot, you have now taken a picture. want more?, push the button again. it really is that simple. in regard to image quality, the answer is YES. DSLRs take really good pictures. that is the simple answer. put a good lens on it, point it at something interesting, release the shutter. there, now you have captured an image.
