D700 dropped $500!

    Yes, it's March now. Nikon announced a while back that the new price would be $2199.95, beginning midnight March 1, 2012. Which it is, in your time zone. BUT,and this is the CRITICAL aspect of that--Nikon did not set a MAP or Minimum Advertised Price!!!! THat means dealers will be free to sell it and advertise it BELOW $2199.95, and still receive Nikon cooperative advertising subsidies.

    Bottom line: expect some cut-rate dealers to get it down below $2,000.

    Why buy used when you might be able to get a brand new one for $1999.95???

    SUPPLY of D700's has been tight....the used price so far has been very close to "new". I do not expect that used units will really be fire-sale priced.
