D7100 shutter speed locked up

Hey guys! So, I was using my D7100 the other day with my new Tamron 90mm and, for whatever reason, the shutter speed stopped working momentarily. I was pressing the button and it didn't do anything. I tried turning the camera off and it didn't turn off. It's like the camera just froze up. It's never done this with my other lenses, so idk if it's the lens or what, but it scared me a bit.

It didn't just do it once, either: it did it a few times. I noticed that it was doing it when I was trying to take pictures repeatedly, which my camera doesn't normally seem to have issues with.

Any thoughts??

The shutter speed stopped working? Or do you mean the shutter release?

If it won't turn off, it may be in the middle of processing an image. If you turn the power button to OFF when it's busy like this, it will remain on until it's done doing whatever it was doing, then turn off.

Another issue may be the camera is set to acquire focus before the shutter can be released. If the camera cannot 'find' focus, it will not allow the shutter to fire.

You very well could be shooting faster than the Camera/Card can process. You've probably filled the cameras buffer since you are shooting repeatedly and then the camera slows/freezes. Its trying to process all the shots you took and when it gets full it simply cannot keep going until it frees up some space in the buffer (kinda like computer RAM)
