D800 vs D4 shocking comparison

High def TV 1920 by 1080p is still only 2 MP. According to the article you linked the D4 does cropped video quite well so what's the point of full frame 36mp video if you going to throw most of the information away. Maybe I'm missing something. However I would not be buying a D4 solely for it's video capabilities, would you?

It doesn't surprise me. The D800 is kind of Nikon's ace-in-the-hole for this generation of relatively affordable DSLR cameras.

The problem is about downsample from 36mp to 1080p (D800) and from 16mp to 1080p (D4).

By the way I need to rent a Nikon DSLR for a video.

Nikon Italia told me that D4 is better than D800 on video...

I would like to see if someone can confirm this...

I just take pictures with my D800...it works ok

Wow this, video is amazing. Thank you very much!!

This is my final answer about D800, D4 and Mark III!

I have a new appreciate for my D800 as a result of this thread. There are still things I like about the Mark III better.

I can still get an analog output out of the Mark III in the studio going to a monitor, I haven't figured out a jack for that on my D800 (its "HDMI" cable only) which blows on many levels.
