Okay, I am officially getting annoyed with Wildlife Photography!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :madass::madass::madass::madass::madass::madass::madass:

I was out hunting birds, I keep hearing about these "Eagles" that are suppose to be nearby and I can't find these things for the love of me.

So I finally spotted an Osprey? I think they are called. And I started following it to see if I could find its nest, which I ended up doing.

However, upon chasing down a bird that seems to fly as fast as a plane. I ended up going down this road and there was a field next to me. I didn't think for one second to stop and look. I got attacked by a group of mosquitoes, and when I say a group, I mean literally hundreds. It was insane.

I then literally saw something peak its head up and look at me swatting away all these bugs. And I was able to grab one shot before he darted off.

I had a chance to get an amazing shot and I blew it!!!

I am really starting to love hearing about your adventures (or mis-adventures...) Dress in long sleeves, long pants and spray on bug repellant on other exposed areas of your body -- neck, face, ears, etc. You are not heading for the beach are you? LOL ... at least this creature spying on you is sharp...

Like IzzieK said I looking forward to your next adventure. Love your details

Well I'm glad I can bring some amusement to you guys hahah.

I actually enjoy wildlife, compared to shooting weddings. Its like, I'm shooting for 'myself'. If that makes sense.

Sounds like your using the wrong approach here. Next time you go out, try going out and looking for mosquitos. If your luck is anything like mine you won't find any, but you will probably be swarmed by eagles.

Same thing with me trying to shoot deer. If I actually go out looking for them I never get anywhere near them to get any kind of a shot. If I'm shooting something else the sneak up on me and suddenly I'm surrounded by curious deer.

Thats how I got this deer. I was following the eagles and bam, outa no where this guy popped up and wanted to know what I was doing.

Thanks for the help

No worries. It's just funny to me that when I head out to the lake to shoot geese or maybe see if I can find a pelican or a sandhill crane - nada. But I'm hip deep in deer. If I go out to shoot deer, again, not one to be found - but I've got geese everywhere. I've got a couple of sandhill crane shots where I was actually looking for a deer and this crane decided he'd go check out that weird looking critter with the camera - walked right up to me, so close I actually had to backup to get a decent shot.

You need bug repellent and hunter instincts or nature is going to kick your butt.Learn to be quiet as possible be prepared but relax and take your time looking around.

That deer was probably glad you came along and pulled the 'skitters' off it!

As far as the bug spray goes, I use it on 'outings', but I find that I don't see as much wildlife. Maybe I'm using the 'wrong stuff', or maybe even walking into the wind(what little there seems to be at times) isn't enough to keep those sharp sense of smell from 'blowing your cover'.....
Deep Woods Off(green can), is about the worst as far as smelling goes. What are 'the masses' using?

Any photo's of the Osprey though?

Scott (there's a skitter on my peter......remember that one?) B

I was thinking that the whole time, it didn't help working out before hand (sweaty) Terrible mistake hahaha. You live you learn.

Any bug spray you guys recommend?

No other Osprey shots, the only one I found was in the nest and I waited for a good half hour and he didn't move. Then thats when I saw all the Vultures souring ahead so I took off.

Deep woods Off sportsmen formula unscented or Cutter unscented.
