Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Is there any way currently for members to choose a darker interface / skin for the forum? I know that some forums and photo viewing sites have that feature.

It would just really be nice to not have the photos we post be surrounded by bright white, which is not conducive to optimal photo viewing. Think Photoshop and Lightroom with their darker interfaces (and probably other photo editing/viewing software?).

If it's not available as an option for the members to choose, is that something the forum software guru(s) could look into implementing?

I think that would be a HUGE plus for our forum experience here.

Under General Settings, there are some options... not ideal, but they are there....

Well there are tons of vbulletin theme pack out there but I assume there has been a bunch of customization by the site runners that would be washed away if they did a simple template switch. I am sure it could be done but It would be a bunch of work on their end.

Something along these lines would be easier on the eyes.

I saw those and tried a couple, but they didn't seem to do the trick. I didn't try all of them though. Do you know which one(s) specifically will darken the interface so that the photos aren't against a white background?

Photos that are uploaded directly from a computer to the site are displayed on a darker background when they are clicked on.

Photos uploaded form a host site aren't.

It seems the more professional looking photographer web sites display photos on white.

Maybe from a display aspect, but if you are expecting people to spend a long time staring at photos on a screen I rather have a dark gray background.

I spend 8-10 hrs a day either editing photos or video and I can say that dark background makes it easier on the eyes.

Helpful to know. Thanks. Would still like a skin option like other sites, so that they ALL can be seen without that high uber-white background of the forum surrounding them.

How did you determine this? Would love to see your survey data on that.

I'm sorry. My mistake. I thought it obvious that was a personal opinion.

it's been proven that darker colors are easier on the eyes. When you think about it, when you are looking at a white screen you are essentially looking at a bright light.

I don't think there is one that will override the white on the main TPF display.. these are all "click on the photo" interfaces... but that is all that was offered the last time the topic came up. I don't use them personally.. I didn't care for the way they worked.

I wonder if the owners will ever do something about this issue. All photos look great on a dark background, but not all of them do on bright white.

It seems that every photo forum out there has different skin options for users to choose from. TPF is the exception, and I can't really think of a reason why.

Plus, like runnah mentioned, darker colours are easier on the eyes.

I'd much rather receive a "we might one day look into it" answer from the admin team than "it's perfect as is", but maybe that's just me.

It's my understanding the forum owners mostly own powersports, fishing, and firearms forums. Home Page

You can contact them directly.
