Nice work,especially the first and third, which have really nice color and detail, and you really have this saturation thing sorted out. The other two are good as well, but a little dark and a little too much background.

Ken is on the money on all counts especially with the background. I think #1 is an excellant candidate for B&W conversion. You are certainly dialing-in your flower images.

Is this with the P&S? If so, you need to get a Marco lens for the Nikon, just to see what happens.

Yes this is with a P & S, the Canon SX60HS. I have been wanting to pickup a Micro 105mm 2.8D. I keep this in the truck and usually use when I break for lunch.

I need to pickup a piece of black poster board, like anything, I never think about it when I drive past a Michael's. Or like you say, get that macro lens and fine tune the process.
