The bumble bee was dying, and the fly was actually quite dead, although that one looks like it was on its last leg...

they just can't handle it

sorry - first thing that popped into my head after seeing the fly!
Interseting shots and dead insects (through natural means) are a good test subject for macro since they don't run/fly away.
