Having seen tecboy's post this weekend, I was pretty impressed that Aston Martin managed to get this Vantage back on the road again given the way it left Wisconsin a couple weeks ago. Here are a few shots of it early in the weekend, when it was looking sharp and howling like nobody's business:

I liked this last one, incidentally, mainly because you can see the LMP2 driver glancing over at the Aston as he passed -- despite the fact that I was focused on the Aston, he was the slower car in this case.

Anyway, here's what it looked like when it left -- I'm just about positive the car tecboy saw was a new chassis, 'cause this one ain't racing again:

One more decent shot:

Incidentally, when I commented on tecboy's thread about the over-boosted contrast on the edit from KmH, I wound up with very similar results on this shot, where I overexposed rather badly and had to do some pretty drastic editing to pull exposure back -- it's still a sharp-looking car, but this really isn't a fantastic shot of it:

Very cool man. So sad to see that thing wrecked but I guess that's part of racing. What a sweet rig too. Painful!

Road America is a fantastic track, but it's dangerous. Lots of high-speed bits, and when things go wrong, there isn't always a lot of runoff room. Turns 1 and 5 account for a lot of bent sheet metal, but 12 (Canada corner) keeps the flatbeds busy.

One of the best sounding race cars around!! Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!!

Wow, there goes what? 200k?

Probably something like that. I think the car's close to that before they start race-prepping it, which has to be another 100G's or so. You figure there were probably some parts they could pull off for spares -- hopefully there's still a motor in there somewhere -- so yeah, that's about right.
