Fabulous set! Mom must be so pleased. Great lighting, and you definitely caught the mischievous nature of this beautiful child.

I hope he's not going to be shocked seeing himself with short hair - clearly he hasn't let that head of hair slow him down. But from someone who's had long locks chopped off, it is an adjustment.

You should hope for an "after" session.

Great set! The young ones are hard to get a still shot. I usually incorporate little games to get them distracted. Throw the leaves in the air. run to mom, hold this stick, wave the stick.

A few of my favorites from a recent outdoor session. His mom wanted to get photos of him before he got his first haircut, and she requested that the session basically document him being his usual wild self in nature rather than a traditional portrait session. Honestly that was the only option anyways because he did not want to slow down more than just a handful of times and only for a moment. I feel like I was lucky to get even a few shots when he would slow down long enough to allow it, and even luckier that some of them had enough hair out of his face in order to show it lol.

@DanOstergren Great set, but more importantly, #4 & #6 capture the essence of the spirit within.

@CherylL from personal experience "never" give a kid "anything" that can become a surprise to a distracted adult.

Thank you Terri! I sent his mom a sneak peak, but I think she may be taking a short internet hiatus so I haven't gotten her reaction yet. I'm excited to deliver the full gallery ASAP though and I really hope she loves them.

We're definitely doing an after the cut session! This time I will be a little more prepared as to what to expect from him energy wise. She told me he would be a handful, yet he still ended up being much more of a challenge to photograph than I expected.

I'm definitely going to come more prepared for the next session after his hair cut. We did try a few games that helped distract him so I could get a few posed looking shots, but his attention span didn't allow for many chances. I'm so used to photographing people who stay mostly still for their photos, so kids sessions definitely are a challenge.
