These were taken at the Desert Museum Raptor Free Flight Show in Tucson. The birds are allowed to fly free, but are trained to respond to handlers. I've been posting these for years, and I thought that captioning them as Desert Museum birds would be enough, but I now realize that there are people here outside the U.S. who wouldn't be familiar with them. I practice BIF at these shows, and they are great for learning how to identify some rapters.

You did nothing wrong and nothing offensive. The bad attitude you're experiencing from @cgw here has been an ongoing problem with no real solution, for years. He's just allowed to continue bullying folks like this all over the site. I can't even make new threads here anymore without feeling anxious that it's going to attract the negative attention of cgw.

Don't let cgw ruin your TPF experience or stop you from sharing your work though, despite how persistently he tries ruining other people's experiences on this site. Even if I still have anxiety about posting here because of him, I still do it. You can't let him ruin it for you. Considering how long this has been going on unchecked, he's just going to keep bullying people here either way.

Unfortunately it doesn't stop blocked users from posting in my threads, or stop me from seeing their posts when someone else quotes them. If it did I would see the 'ignore' function of this site as a much more effective tool than it is. Generally speaking I only block people as a last resort, typically if they're sending rude messages to my inbox. Otherwise, I would hope that the moderators use the tools available to them effectively when members are behaving the way cgw does, rather than expecting us users to deal with it so they don't have to. Blocking, to me, isn't the solution. Not allowing the behavior to continue is.

The pictures were of raptors photographed at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum during a Raptor Free-Flight show. I posted in "Nature and Wildlife, and mentioned the location, which is nationally, and perhaps internationally known, and the birds were obviously banded, showing that they were not wild birds, but someone responded, implying that I was somehow being dishonest by not stating that these were "captive" birds.

The raptors at the Arizona‑Sonora Desert Museum’s Free‑Flight program are captive, trained educational birds.

• They fly untethered
• They return voluntarily
• They are trained with positive reinforcement
• They are native species used for education and conservation messaging

But,

• The birds are managed
• They are trained
• They are not wild individuals encountered in nature

They’re not wild birds, so I removed the images to avoid the drama. A moderator confirmed to me that they are allowed in the Nature & Wildlife forum.
