"I think I won the bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich. I was looking through the off topic forum of the Photo Forum, and I couldn't find a thread about babelfish translations. So, I have decided that in order to win the aforementioned Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato sandwich with Mayo on toasted sour dough bread, I would start the thread.
Here is my contribution, and hopefully it will turn out great as it. I used Babelfish, and I first translated it from English to German, then from German back to English. Hope you all like it.
Please don't let me be the only one on the Forum to post to this thread."

You are indeed the winner! I can send a BLT to your address, POSTAGE paid courier. It's gonna cost me like 2.00 to make the sandwich and probly 30.00 to have it sent priority so it's still fresh! This will be a fun topic, I am sending English to German because it seems to turn out really funny!

They are indeed the winner! I can a BLT to its address, POSTAGE send paid special messenger. It will cost me, how 2,00, over and is still fresh probly 30,00 it sand-yielded sent priority them to have thus let! This is a fun topic, I sends to the German English, because it seems to turn from really merry!

The wonderful thing about translation programs is how they can totally miss the point. English is an exceptionally difficult language to automate and I would be surprised if anyone managed to write a computer program soon which will make sense.

Rob

Rob

Concerning the translator splendid thing is those completely how can let escape the point. English is difficult language especially it should automate, it makes feeling, or either one how, it does and that anyone writes the computer program directly I am surprised.

I can't decide which is better: a $35 BLT or seeing how babelfish translates things from one language to another. OK, this time I'm going to experiment with this program. I will attempt to translate from English to Dutch, from Dutch to French, and finally back to English. Here goes...

I cannot decide which improve is: $35 BLT or the sight how babelfish translates the things of a language into other. O.K., this the time will try out me with this program. Me for Dutch English, of Dutch in the French train tried to translate, and definitively into English. Goes here...

If I weren't able to retranslate the so-called "German" texts back into English in my mind, I would not understand any of it. Apart from words like "probably" shortened to "probly", which the databank at babelfish simply does not HAVE, those WORDS used here are German all right. But the sentences make no sense at all!

Though the machine DID get one thing right.

"You are indeed the winner" was quite correctly (!) translated into
"Sie sind in der Tat der Sieger". Yay!

How so?
Nothing at all differed in the sentence structure of said sentence. But the machine cannot translate semantics. Let alone double meanings or some such very difficult things. Sponateous word-coinages (aprilravens "girl-rilla" springs to mind here) are totally out of the question.

Now let the system mangle my text, hang on.

(Dang. Babelfish costs MONEY! So the Google Language Tools had to "help" me)

(Right. Text-jumble back into English, please.)

If I were not in that, the so-called "German" texts back into English in my understanding to back-translate, I would understand not any about him. Apart from words as "probably probly", which the data base DOES NOT HAVE to babelfish simply, those WORDS, which were used here, is German completely right "shortened". But the sentences are not meaningful at all!

Although the machine received a thing right.
"you are indeed the winner" rather correctly (!) translated into "are you in the that outside temperature that winners". Yay!

How so? Nothing on completely differentiated with respect to the sentence structure of the mentioned sentence. But the machine cannot translate semantics. Let alone doubled meanings or some such very difficult things. Word coinages Sponateous (aprilravens "girl rilla" rises to the understanding here), are total except question.

Leave system-lack now my text, case on.

Oh dear. My typos did give the machine a harder time than it would otherwise have had but well... it is still great fun! :D

OH- lieb.

(Real German would have been: Oh weia!

Google-German re-translated:
Oh dear. My typos gave a harder time to the machine, than it would differently have had, but probably... it still large fun is!

Real German translated:
Oh weia! My typing errors made the life heavier for the machine, than them would have otherwise had, but all the same... it always still makes much fun!

My god

LaFoto, unless the Babelfish bastards are sticking it to the Germans, it should be free. Just try going to http://www.babelfish.altavista.com. That should do the trick. NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET (least of all porn...oh, sorry, I didn't mean to say that out loud).

LaFoto, it is the Babelfish hybrid it at the Germans clings, should it be free. Fair attempt, which goes too http://www.babelfish.altavista.com. That should do the trick. NEVER PAY FOR EVERYTHING ON the InterNet (little everything porn... OH -, sadly, I meant not to say that out loud).

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in a village near the forest. Whenever, she went out, the little girl wore a red riding cloak, so everyone in the village called her Little Red Riding Hood.

One morning, Little Red Riding Hood asked her mother if she could go to visit her grandmother as it had been awhile since they'd seen each other.

"That's a good idea," her mother said. So they packed a nice basket for Little Red Riding Hood to take to her grandmother.

It was to it once, gave a small girl who lived in a village near the forest. Always, if it left carried a layer goes up red, each one in the village its small hood of assembles red A the small girl called. While the hood of assembles red A his/her mother little required a morning if it could go her grandmother to visit, because it was during a few times, since she have regard. "that which is a good idea has" his/her mother said. Thus, they packed a pleasant basket, so that the hood of goes up red of his/her grandmother flies little.

Nice. Rob :)

OK, this is cheating a bit, but here are some limericks I posted in the limerick thread (sorry the formatting will be off, but if you really want to read them head over to the limerick thread):

I went to a bar in town
My sorrows intending to drown
Became quite drunk
and who woulda thunk
that I'd wake up in a gown

My goal was to get quite pished
to my dismay I mished
The girl with the rack
Was really quite stacked
To take her home I wished

I went and chatted her up
An invitation to sup
She laughed in my face
and to my disgrace
Into her lap I threw up

The bouncer then appeared
and things got really weird
The lights came on
and reality dawned
The well stacked chick had a beard

And so I returned to my home
and I'm swearing off the foam
I'll stick with the chicks
without any pricks
And I'll never have to groan

O.k., this pray-reprimands a point, but is here something limericks, which I communicated in limerick the thread (sadly is formatting out, but, if you liked to really read it main surplus to limerick the thread): I went ensuring to a staff in the city my, intend to drown, became rather drunk and who woulda thunk, which I would wake up in a dress my goal was to receive pished quite to my fright, which became I the girl with the rack really quite stacked to take over their house mished, I wished I went it an invitation to sup plaudern, it in my face laughed up and my dishonor into its lap threw I the Prahler appeared above then and things received the lights concerned really strangely and reality dawned that well Staplungskueken had a beard and so I returned to my house and I schw50re away of the foam rubber, that I with the Kueken without any burins clings and I must never aechzen

Corry, my dear, you are very sweet and I would love to break a BLT bread sandwich with you; however, you seem to have confused the babelfish thread and the what's for lunch thread...true, they are intimately related, but they are different. But, since we like you we will let you off with a warning...assuming you edit your post to comply. If you do not, however, the punishment may be servere (I've read how you deal with others in another post--something about Hertz' S&M dungeon...)

Corry, my dear, are very sweet you and I would love, a BLT bread-and-yielded with you to break; however you, which babelfish threads to have confused and which for the applicable lunch thread... is, seem them familiarly referred, but they are differently. But, since we like you, we leave you away with a warning..., It assuming to draw up your post in order to consent. At the moment there's quite a lot of flirting on the board. I wonder if that's because it's cold in most of the world at the moment and people are thinking of indoor activities like cuddling and snuggling up in front of a fire. Who's a romantic here then?

When, where it has flirting enormous in the advice. I ask that he will be himself, because he momentarily makes the cold time in the majority of the world, and the peoples think for top on internal activities as cuddling and snuggling before a fire. Who is then here romantic '?

Ok, well, you'll have to tell me what this bablefish thing is before I can comply! or...well, I guess it's a translator, but gimmme da url, and I'll get to it when I can (working...slacked too much yesterday, can't slack too much today! )

Greek:

All right, well, it will be supposed to me you say this what the thing bablefish is before I can arrange itself! or... well, I suppose that he is translator, but gimmme a DA url, and will reach in when I can (the work... relaxed too much yesterday, cannot relaxes too much today! )

Corry, go to www.babelfish.altavista.com and type your message into the box that says, "Translate a block of text." Then go and pick a language to tanslate it into (I will be using Russian this time around). Copy that and stick it back into the translate box and bring it on back into English. It's that simple, and a lot of fun.

Copy и вставляет его back into коробка переводить и приносит его дальше back into английская язык.

Corry, goes to www.babelfish.altavista.com and prints your communication on the machine into the box which he speaks, "is transferred the block of text." After this, goes to select language to tanslate it in (I I will use Russian this time all around). Copy puts its back into box to transfer and brings it further back into English will be the fact simple, and with many fun.
