I have been chasing during a long time for this scarce one.
And now, it is mine.
It has been manufactured in Stuttgart Germany between 1933 and 1935 by a Company called Ebner which was first known as a bakelite record player manufacturer.
Before the WW2 Ebner produced two Bakelite camera of different formats
Mine is called Ebner 340. It is a 6x9 cm format and is known for its beautiful streamlined body shape.
Even the viewfinder has been designed to be folded inside the body to not protrude.
The body parts are made of brown Bakelite.
The reasons why Ebner ceased its activities before the ware are not clear.
After Ebner, the French manufacturers Pontiac (between 1938 and 1941) and Gallus (1938-1939) produced very similar cameras. Some says that Ebner sold manufacturing moulds and tools to these companies but again it’s unclear.
If you have any document or information concerning Ebner, please let me know.
