I had never photographed a DJ before. Im still editing. What do you guys think?

He desperately needs a tie-tack... I don't know what to think of these...not bad, not great, serviceable I guess. I've seen much worse work. he appears a bit forced, a bit uncomfortable, and dressed a bit...weirdly as well. I dunno...I am trying to figure out if this guy does wedding DJ work or what. I think the first shot makes him look more professional...in the second one, the tie front and the tie back being separated like that looks awful, like he doesn't even know how to properly wear a tie...or worse yet, that he is playing dress-up, and actually has NO IDEA of how to wear a tie...it's like the fly being open in a portrait...his tie is being worn in a very sloppy manner, and it makes me think less of him, or less of the photographer that would shoot such a portrait for a client.

I don't know anything about ties. Im a girl & don't wear them. Though easy fix! It can be cropped. He does do wedding work. We also have photos in a more casual outfit but as I said I am still editing.

I think you were on to something with the first one, but didn't explore it far enough. The composition is a little tight, and as Derrel mentioned, his clothing doesn't really work. The background is also rather unattractive. Joe's shot is a good one, but it really depends on the client's target market; his certainly wouldn't be appropriate for higher-end conservative clients.

Sorry, but I am not feeling these two shots at all. He looks way too dorky. The posing, the clothes, that awful background, color clashes galore--it's not even passable for me.

Not trying to be harsh, but that is my honest take.

Reshoot!

DJ + Shirt and Tie? err not for me thanks. (BTW all ties have a little loop of fabric to put the thin bit in to keep them in line)

Good to know. The outfits were his idea. He did bring a few but most were dress shirts, ties, and dress pants. The jobs that he does may expect or require him to dress nicer than club DJs.

I do love club photos but this was a promo shoot in the studio not a in action kind of shoot.

Fancier than club dj you say?

The first one isn't bad. The second just doesn't work for me. Besides the tie and the forced expression, the soundboard being so prominently displayed and being out of focus is very distracting.

I don't know, The first one is a nice portrait. Composition could have used a little improvement. But not bad!
