Not being a wildlife shooter I will leave the pointers to the many guys on here nailing this field. This to me is a nice shot, I think if you'd caught her head on and really nailed the focus (seems a little off/soft to me) then we'd be looking at a great shot.
I know it's not for everyone, but for me again, Ann image with this much white needs to be closed in a little to focus the eye and prevent wandering, my eye went to the in focus snow. Maybe crop in a little from the top left to match the tree distance on the other side of the frame and close it down with a vignette.. Just personal taste really.
As you said they're ok to edit, I gave it a try... But as I said I'm not wildlife shooter, and this is purely personal preference...
I forgot to also post: "as the struggle continues"
You are right, a bit soft. And I do like the edit.
I don't know why, but the fact she appears to be leaning bothers me. Have you tried a crop that straightens her a bit? Nice scene, btw.
I struggle when it comes to when the subject is on an incline or decline. Whether or not to straighten...
Yes, I know what you mean. Usually I look at both ways and go with what looks best to me.
Very nice shot.....
