The backpack is nice, but I would not recommend the tripod. All beginners go through the cheap tripod phase. DO NOT buy a cheap tripod.

The problem with compact tripods is they are not stout to be useful. I use one for a point and shoot that I keep together in the car..... LOL so I don't miss something.

The load capacity on that tripod is 3.3 pounds. It might be fine for a bridge camera, but my film body and moderate zoom are close to that.

In fact you do not need tripod. The tripos is just looking useful. Believe me.
