dof help

I have a kodak p850.. and cant get dof down at all.. any help please

Welcome to the forum.

So you are trying to get a shallow DOF? I'm guessing that you want to take portraits with a blurred background....or something like that.

The problem is that the sensor in your camera is only 0.4 of an inch in size. That makes is very hard to get a shallow DOF. That is equivalent to about F8 or F11 on a 35mm SLR camera.

There are things you can do to render the background more out of focus. Use your widest aperture, get close to your subject while saying far away from the background & use a longer focal length.
