My dog, Chanel.
Using Canon 600D.

Newbie in photography still.
Require advice. :D

I would want the eyes to be in focus.

Also I would get rid of the huge text.

Great dog not so good photo, Lakeland Terrier ?

See how this works for you (closer crop, bring up the white, reduce highlights, bring out shadows, boost clarity, reduce blue saturation and luminosity).$Dog.webp

Underexposed... spot meter if you can... pattern can be inaccurate...

Too blue (auto white balance) correct in post.

Too shallow a DOF - Aperture F5 (use a smaller aperture ) see this site for DOF > Online Depth of Field Calculator

Shutter speed 1/40 - Much too slow for hand held shot even at 44mm.

Get a flash and Learn to use it! (not the popup flash either.. they suck!)

If your body will do SPOT or Single Point focus.. use it... on the eyes!

What Charlie said. The eyes are the windows to the soul, whereas the nose is just a useless snot blower. Never leave the eyes out of focus, never.

I don't have any decent Dog shots.. but I do shoot a lot of cats. I got this using the techniques I suggested above as an example:
