Well, I hope it isn't too soon to donate another lens. But in the cleaning out of the closet and spare gear we decided to donate this one as well. It is NOT a pro lens, but lens is in excellent shape and has been well cared for. glass is clean, everything works fine. aperture ring and zoom work fine. AF is good, and fast, etc etc. now for the fine print stuff...

we are DONATING this lens. It is FREE to a good/needy home, and is sent AS-IS with no guarantee or warrantee, written or implied of ANY kind. we will pay shipping. continental U.S ONLY. (Alaska is fine if the flat rate shipping boxes from USPS covers that)

the criteria for getting the lens is as follows:
1: you NEED this lens, meaning you DO NOT already have this focal range or reasonably close. (my call)
(having a sigma or tamron and saying you don't like it doesn't count)
2: you already have a camera capable of mounting this lens (no putting the cart before the horse)
3: you live in the continental united states (im a stickler on this one, sorry)

we realize that it might be considered somewhat pointless to try and give this lens away, since pretty much everyone would already have at least the 18-55 kit lens which is certainly a better lens being far newer and having VR. On the off chance that there is someone that does NOT have a zoom lens in this range, (maybe only having fixed focal lenses, or fixed and a long tele zoom) and would like a decent medium zoom, we are putting this one up for grabs.

Me and the wife both hope that this round of donations will be as smooth and drama free as the others, and we are grateful to the forum members here that make that possible. Again, thank you all for your participation.

i can has? my 43-86 is manual only, it'd be nice to have an AF-capable lens that i could use on a DSLR (when i get one), but until then on my FM2 :3

me me me me

just kidding, my kit lens covers that range, almost. lol.

Very good of you to find another to donate out. I hope others maybe will get sparked to check their old stash and see how they can help out fellow noobs like myself. Every little bit helps when just starting out.

Bumping to try and get this lens gone this week too. I know its not the greatest focal range, but its a good lens. Anyone missing a decent mid range zoom in their bag?

Is this lens still available? I would like to put me name in the hat for it.

Thanks
James

Everything will be taken into consideration. Anyone that is interested, please list your gear otherwise i cannot determine your level of need.

Nikon FM2
(saving up for a Nikon D5100)

Tamron 90mm f/2.5 MF Tele-Macro lens
Zoom-Nikkor 43-86mm f/3.5 MF zoom lens
Vivitar 75-260mm f/4.5 MF zoom lens (currently missing, only trace i could find was the case it came in)

having an autofocus lens for when i get a D5100 would be nice..

Honestly, your 18-55 is probably a better lens anyway, and will auto focus on your camera, whereas my 35-80 will not. Your best bet is a longer zoom like a 70-300 or 55-200. Something that will give you more range over what you already have.

Thanks for the Input, I have been trying to save some mad money to get a 55-200. The 18-55 is a nice lens, I will upload some of the pictures of our trip down under very soon. The part about your lens is it a Macro, what would you suggest for a good Macro lens?

Thanks
James

.
I don't really know too much about macro lenses. I would like to eventually get a nice fixed focal macro myself. I totally forgot my lens was a macro zoom. Im going to let this thread run until the weekend and pick someone to ship it out to on my day off tuesday

Ok here goes my input.
I have a Nikon D3000 with a 50mm 1.8 AF lens.
I like the manual focus because you can try many different things with it. I want to get ALOT more but with me so close to getting out of the Army I need to save as much money as I can.
