Don't piss-off the Internet

I can't understand how an editor can send back an email admitting to the wrong doing without first investigating or reviewing with legal. I'd say $130 and an apology is the least of their worries now.:lmao:

With the other infringements that have been discovered, some involving heavy hitters, I figure the total cost will be in the $2,500,000 range if any of it goes to court. If things get settled before court, I think the magazine could get by for a little as $750,000 total.

Just a little bit more than $130...

I expect the magazine to file for bankrupcy, and start up again with a new title.

With legal?
Considering that they distribute through facebook and don't even have a website setup (and had a total of 100odd watchers on facebook before this event) it sounds like a one person company who got caught not even wanting to write the articles.

This does happen all the time - what the person failed to realise is that people also get caught all the time - though normally its with a hard to trace random website registered in some far off country that means the person who's work is ripped off has little chance to gain anything out of legal action - though they can easily get the site shut down (but nothing stops the person cropping up again somewhere else).

Their mistake was using facebook - instantly traceable - instantly easy for a mob reaction ;)

If Fark can make Wil Wheaton Vogue's (I think it was vogue) best dressed person of the year, I think it's safe to agree not to piss off or even taunt the internet. Fark, Reddit, /b/ and any number of other sites will take care of you.

Dynamite monkeys have nothing on the internet.

If none of this makes sense to you, you don't spend enough time on the 'net.

Read about this a few days ago. I'm not sure whether to think the the editor is just an idiot and don't know anything about internet copyright, or that (more likely) she knew what she was doing, but was trying to pull one over on the writer, hoping that the writing didn't understand copyright law and would just buy her excuse.

It's a shame either way. Some people are a disgrace to the publish industry.

That's so weird, just had a lecture on this at uni this morning.

As the editor of that give-away rag found out, Karma is a biatch!
