Remember being told this? ^

Well, some London Ontario merchants took them for a week in 1955.

Used in camera focus stacking for this shot.

How it was shot.

You might want to try something I've been experimenting with Taming those Annoying Highlights: Cross-Polarization Flash Macro Photography I ordered a polarizing film, to attach to flash and still evaluating how best to use it, but it shows some promise.

Maybe a CPL on the lens if shooting as I am without flash.

Can't remember but the LED may be linear. I know the light emitted from a laptop is, as another member did some recently using a laptop with a pure white image he had downloaded.

I took a look at the link and I believe I have read others opinions on that...
Not a big fan. Take away the "big language" and what I see is a flash that has been diffused too much. Lost lit areas...lost detail..
Diffusion is necessary, but I have learned that the closer the flash to the subject; the softer the light.
Those two I believe are the key.
Out of the two frog photos, the first would be my choice- and with a grimace about the hotspots.
