Driving in the Driving Rain

Interesting patterning from the rain being blown around on a very soggy show day.

Might be one of those noise removal tricks that I don't yet know, but standard noise reduction didn't really touch it (save obliterating all detail choices)

Yeah, I agree with that. I'd experient with lowered clarity for the forteground subjects; there's a lot of Snap! in the horses and the drivers in the foreground...I'd like to see them be lower in contrast or clarity... just a thought...same goes for flared shots and smoky campfire shots; last weekend I went to a large, crowded beach, and there were places where the air was a pale, faint blue duie to sdo,so much driftwood being buirned by the beachgoers...I ended up reducting contrast and clarity on my smokey shots, and it looked better.

If the rain were more drops I'd agree, but its more a hazy mist. I do see your idea in that Derrel, though whilst I can see it working with smoke it just seems wrong with rain. At least rain as light as this (yes its heavy enough to be a pain* but not really proper "driving hard" rain as such)





* despite all its weathersealing it seems the little joystick on the 7D doesn't like getting wet. Rather an annoyance to suddenly find ones AF point selection going dead half way through the day.

I like Overread's shot as is.

Sorry Peeb, the exposure was long enough that the bird moved slightly or the shot is over sharpened.
The rain is streaks rather than drops.
