For me there is not enough overall or local contrast nor enough clarity.

The mountains definitely pull my eye away in the original shot because they are just as interesting as the boats, especially that bright cloud top right. Not a bad problem to have. In KMH's edit, I think it helps to keep focus on the boats a bit more but still the mountains are much too interesting to fade into the background. I can totally see why you would want the mountains in focus because they're so compelling but in this case, for me, it takes away from the main subject, which, in my mind is the dock and boats.

I actually like it the way it is. Other than maybe a tad more contrast like Keith (I think it's Keith, anyway) said. My eye immediately followed the leading lines of the dock to the boats, then naturally continued to the mountains. It definitely doesn't have the feel of having a main subject because the background is as visually appealing as the foreground, but I think that's okay here.
