Geez, a driver has to know what their vehicle height is. Fail

The 11foot8.com web site mentions that the rental truck company insurance renters can buy when they rent the truck does not include coverage for damage caused by low clearances.
The renter's personal vehicle insurance may cover such an occurrence.

That could have been interesting, and is to most, however to me it is new day, different truck. Unfortunately we had a 10'9" railroad bridge here in the heart of down town for years and years, and probably years. That was a once a week occurrence here. A multitude of signs were put up leading up to the bridge, fortunately it was a one way street, but they didn't do any good. The really bad thing was that to keep the tracks even the road dipped under the bridge which added to the problems.

Thankfully it was replaced a few years ago with a much taller bridge when they decided to raise the 4 parallel tracks running through town on an elevated trestle all the way through town.

The lucky ones we could deflate the tires and they could back out. The unlucky ones had to be pulled out with a tow truck or two to get them unstuck. How that bridge stood all that abuse I will never know.

Unfortunately they didn't extend it down to the Waterman street bridge.
