Just a duck at our local lake.

Great focus on the duck, and good detail. I don't like the vignette so much though. Do you have any of her swimming towards you? I'd like to see it from the front.

Agreed, I like the shot but the vignette is WAY too heavy, and I would like it better if the duck was facing the camera

Yep, I think if you loose a bit of the vignette, and brighten it up abit it would help the shot alot

okay, I ditched the vingette. Unfortunately I do not have any of her facing me; I was at the lake with my dog and decided to bring the camera along with me, so of course the ducks swam away when I approached shore with a big leashed beast. Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

Also dislike the vignetting, but when you remove it you have a lot of blown highlights... shot in raw? Could try and recover them.

No, it was shot in jpeg. Unfortunately I do not have a great editing system on my computer at the moment. I just purchased a laptop and used the editing system provided in my computer, which does not do much at all. I still need to purchase new editing software.

Probably go for a balance between the two you have posted, some vignetting to maintain focus on the duck without being too strong.

You would have gotten a disc with software with your camera? It should give you a few more options (including raw support) without forking out big bucks for photoshop etc. There are other options too like gimp but I'm not the one to ask on that and it doesn't really fit in this sub-forum. Others will have some better advice on this.

Nice capture of the duck, it looks like those around here.

You either missed or cropped its reflection, though. And agreed on the vignetting, somewhere in-between would work. The duck is the important thing, and the some vignetting will show just that.

This is the slightest vingette my computer would allow me to add.

Thanks for the critique everyone. I think maybe the picture just needs to be a bit dynamic in itself. Off to the lake I go to try and do better :)
