Ead's cottage C&C please

Awesome and lucky shot with the lighting and cloud cover!

Do you live close to the subject that you can time a photo like this?

yes.... it is 5 minutes down the road.. it has taken me a long time to get permission from the person who owns it... to enter his land and shoot it... It is set about 800 metres off the road in the bush... so you have a bit of a walk to get there... lovely spot...:)

I thought you lived close...It was worth any extra effort!

Thank you.... is there anything I could have done to improve the shot?

Hard to tell composition-wise, but if you were to get a bit closer to the structure and avoid those trees on the far left but keep the foreground rocks, that might help. To recreate similar clouds with low frontal lighting would be your biggest challenge.

Did you do any post processing work?

Very nice, not overcooked, just dramatic, to my eye.

The panorama feels a little forced to me. on the one hand, you have the rock wall to carry the width, which is something. On the other hand, it's not feeling like it's pulling it all together for me. The central subject, the cottage, is a little too strong, so the extra width starts to feel like it's not working with the subject, but against it.

Is this about the cottage, or the wall? (that's a rhetorical question, and it's that ambiguity that I think hinders this image)

The trees and material on the left also strike me as the weakest point of the composition.
