What is it about owls? No matter how you photograph them, they ALWAYS look like they're trying to figure out how someone [the photographer] can be so stupid and still breathe!

Three words...jealous, jealous, JEALOUS. I've only seen one owl in the "wild" and that was on the roof of where I was working.

Nice pic, awesome bird! They always look like they mean business. I had a large hoot owl, around a 5 ft. wingspan, fly about ten feet over my head at sundown once. I heard it before I saw it. You could hear the WHOOSH of it's wings and almost looked to be in slo-mo with it's rather slow, long flapping of the wings. It was kind of surreal. Quite an experience!

Owls are the A-10's of the avian predator world. The short, wide wings are tailored for slow, highly maneuverable flight and they are quieter than other birds.

I recently saw a NOVA or Nature special on them and it was fascinating.
