Easter bonfire

People have Easter bonfires on the eve of Easter Sunday here in northern Germany and, as usual, I attended the one on the beach at my family's cottage. Tried my hand at capturing the play of light and flames - no mean feat if you're just learning the ropes of your new camera (such as manual exposure etc.). Comments and helpful suggestions for improvements welcome!

The first one here is so surprisingly three-dimensional, we can look so deeply into the heap of wood and collected fir branches that made the foundation for the fire, I am all fascinated with this photo!!
