This is not too bad. It would be nice to see a bit more detail in the shadows around his neck (fill flash?). The other thing you have to watch out for are things that look like they are poking out of his body somewhere. In this case, there is a blade of grass that appears to be sticking out of his head. Maybe a different camera positioning for the image to get rid of this "effect" would be of value.

One aspect of photographing animals, birds, reptiles, etc. is to show some detail, or a catch light in the eye. Here, we know the eye is there, but we cannot see any detail in it, or a reflection.

Thanks I am hoping to get a lens that can capture the eye and shell reflection better and a better angle sounds like a great idea
