Eastern Plains CO Astro

So Asto is something I have been wanting to get into but haven't really had the chance. There are lots of mountain scenes that I know would be great but the weather in the mountains has yet to pan out for me. I decided this time to head into the Eastern plains of Colorado. The clouds were not non-existent but so far the best the conditions have ever been for me. I know I need a lot more practice but these were a few that turned out ok I think.

There is not much of interest in the foreground of these pics. I drove to an area I had never been and unfortunately did not leave early enough to scout a good location before it was so dark I could see anything past 50 yards. I think it made for good practice though.

I used a 14mm Rokinon 2.8 and a Zeiss 21mm 2.8 Distagon with my Canon 6D
6400 ISO and exposures ranges between 20-30 seconds

I think number 1 is my favorite and I wish I had more time with this one to play with some other perspectives and what not, but there was some sort of animal in the dark behind snorting and making allot of noise that was scaring the crap out of me. I couldn't see it but I think it was an elk or something. The sounds kind of sounded like elk bugle.

Yeah that cloud was really bumming me out but what can you do. If I had waited a couple more hours that cloud probably would have been gone. This wasnt my first time out to try astro it was really the third but the two prior times where in the winter when only the tail of the milkyway was visible and there was lots of light pollution on those other occasions.

I have no idea what that is in the second pic. I wanted up a dirt road and that was at the top.
