Interesting portrait. The first thing that strikes me is the tonal quality and the texture of the background. She's looking off-frame and although the image breaks a few rules it does hold my attention.

Not hotmetal....one of the Clients that the company I used to work for is Pearson Publishing, technical literature, novels, poetry ... etc... the company decided that since I had Parkinson's they would make it easier on me ... so they reduced my work load, I haven't worked there for 8 months, but 8 months ago I was doing my boss's job while he was on holidays... go figure??

I really like this one a lot. I know that if you follow the composition rules you'd want to place her further to the left in the frame so she wouldn't be looking out of the frame, but honestly I don't think that would work nearly as well as the composition you chose.

Maybe it's her facial expression - but in this case for me at least having her looking "into the unknown" just really works, and having the dark moodier background to her left just sets the tone perfectly.

I love this shot - wouldn't change a thing.

I'm on my phone sitting at the John Deere ranch so I can't really say I'm looking at an accurate representation of the picture, but is it a bit on the red side? Or just warm maybe? I'll check it out again when I get home.

Composition wise I really like this.
I think if you took one with her on the opposite side of the frame looking over to the empty side of the frame it would have worked just as well.

I love the look, the composition works but I think the skin (or the everlay of texture) looks a bit rough.

Go figure indeed. They did say "decrease" not "eliminate" your workload right? Jeeze. Well regardless it sounds intriguing. I paginated a newspaper for a few years. That's why I was interested haha.
