Beautifully done without being cheesy. ;) She has lovely hands, so the whole thing works well. Nice job!

Thank you very much for the kind words!!! I am humbled by them!

Beautiful photo and sharp. I actually tried to photograph my engagement ring but i don't have a macro lens. I'm actually learning about dof. May I ask what your settings you used ?

Hey--nice going on that ring shot!

Thank you all for the kind compliments.

As far as camera settings go, this was shot as follows:

Canon T5
50mm 1.8 set at f4 1/250
About 1.5 feet away from the ring and flower, shot in natural daylight.

Thanks for the info. I guess I was doing the opposite. I was doing 1/100 50mm at home with no natural light ( very low light ) and bumped my ISO and it wasn't good. Thank you for the info and I will try again.

It was taken right outside on my back porch. We have a slight awning that provides ample shade so that there is no direct light on the subject. My ISO at the time was the bare minimum that my camera could shoot which I believe was ISO 100. If you are going to shoot indoors, I would keep ISO at around 200-400 range depending on what camera you are using, set the camera up on a tripod and then shoot. When I do product photography for my wife's etsy shop, I use an OTC flash, tripod and slow shutter speeds.

.. but i don't have a macro lens.
Try it with your standard lens. You'll have to be at least as far back as that lens will focus, and if you get a good sharp photo (tripod) then just crop it down to the desired frame. Yes, you'll probably get somebody's head in the edges of the shot, or your cat, but you're going to crop it anyway, so what the heck. Make the middle of the frame the way you want it.

Nicely done!
