I am attempting to repair this lens that was dropped. Can anyone tell me if the focus ring is supposed to stop when you go from minimum to infinity? Or should it rotate freely?
I do not have another lens to compare it to.
When it is attached to a camera it has problems focusing. It wants to move but gets stuck.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Opened the lens and found that there is a pin missing. Not sure if this is the only problem with the lens. Now, how do I find just that pin? It is not inside the lens body.
But looking at it. It does not look like it was broken off from a drop. Makes me wonder if someone tried to fix it and missed the screw pin putting it back together.

tell the truth I'd send it to either the manufacturer of a repair shop. Then again something wrong with the car and I take it to a mechanic!

I might just do that if I can not find the part I need. Still searching.

Nikon Canada...
I could send the lens in for repairs but can't order part from them. And If I send it for repairs, I would take it to a local camera shop that I know that will send it off for repairs. But that will take about 3 months.

Call Nikon Canada for turnaround times and deal with them direct.
