Are you using a muslin on a standard background stand?

Yep.

I plan to change to roll-up paper at some point which should solve the problem.

How bad are the wrinkles? Personally wrinkled muslin doesn't bother me.

This stuff works wonders. http://www.joann.com/anti-pill-fleece-fabric-solids/prd18849.html Not as prone to wrinkle as muslin, comes in a variety of colors, and the fleece side has enough tooth that you don't get reflections.
