I'm still experimenting (on myself). So far, my intention has been to do some alternative self-portraits and convert all or most of them to b/w. So, this time I used a red filter on the light. Let me clarify that...red construction paper over the light :blushing:
I wound up not liking how red the tint was, so I converted it to b/w :er: I don't like my positioning in the frame. That's been the hardest part. Is focusing in the dark, and getting into the same spot that I focused on  I'm basically just playing around and trying to learn some new stuff.

Hmm, I think it's a great pose and all but your eyes are a little crazy looking and everything seems to be soft except for the eyes and it looks sort of funny to me because of that. JMO....

Thanks you guys. A double thanks to you Eric, glad you like it.

Thanks for the feedback Ava! I should have explained a little more. I'm not too fond of 'traditional' portraits. Don't get me wrong, I like to look at em and respect the work, I'm just more interested in a harsher look for myself. The softness was added in PS, then I removed it from my eyes, lips, eyebrows and ear to make them stand out for that unique look.

The style probably isn't for everyone, but I still like to know who likes it and who doesn't...and why. Thanks again

Well, I do like it. My main comment was just the craziness of your eyes, they are.......well, wild. That's all. I was basically meaning to ask if you were going for the wild "I'm nuts" look or if that's just how you look, oh man this isn't sounding right. Crud, I think I will shut up now. Sorry if I offend, not meaning anything by it.

Oh...no! No offense taken ;) Again, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

My first impression was not "These eyes are crazy" but "Wow, his eyes are very intense" ... and I liked that instantly. While all the rest of you is made "dreamy" because of the softness, your eyes are "dreaming" ... having this faraway look, they are active, they are the focus part of the picture - and I like it a lot!

I would be way too self-conscious to even experiment taking "the somewhat other self-portrait" in the dark! So kudos for trying and testing, too!

Thanks Corinna!
The self portraits I've been doing might not be technically good, but it's nice to know that the effect I'm going for is working  As long as at least 1 person likes each photo I post...I'm ok with that

Yes, I did mean to say I like your tattoos. I have a few myself, am not finished, it's quite addicting. Everytime I get one done I am thinking about what I am going to get next while I am still getting the one I am there for.

Ok, sorry to hijack, back to the topic of the picture........:D
