Extension tubes on ebay

I am looking for alternatives to expensive macro lenses. I've heard that extension tubes were one way to go, but I a clueless as to what is good. Is this something worth buying?

Didn't say that. If you want a cheap set of tubes, that's what they are. They don't have any mechanical linkage for the aperture, so you'll end up always shooting at the lens' minimum aperture.

When I first try macro, I thought AF is not important since I will be so close up. I bought a manual macro (micro for Japanese) lens. It was a wonderful lens but I realized it is very challenging on the field and when age is catching up.

It all depend and only you will know if you are ok. Try shooting something close with your current lens without AF and see your photo is sharp.

A macro lens is the best. I feel the Raynox is the next alternative and cheapest. If you don't need AF, why not consider a manual macro lens?
