Extreme Macro

Dunno. Chinese optics from Laowa and Venus have improved dramatically. This is plainly a specialty lens for anyone interested in, say, an 1/8 inch-long jumping spider's complexion. If you need/want it, buy it. Around $1200 US doesn't hit me as excessive for a lens like this.

Agreed on the Laowa quality vs. price. I have a 105 f/2.0 (T3.2) Smooth Trans Focus lens, with dual diaphragms. Mechanical and optical quality is as good as I could desire. I certainly would buy the Aurogon if I needed the magnification range, but seldom go beyond 5x. I can attain upwards of 20x with my 25 f/1.8 Switar movie camera lens reversed on a bellows, and have a microscope if I need more. Still, I'd like to do some comparison tests on film, so maybe ...
