Fall Y'all

Finally a little color on our mountain on a foggy morning. Because of the drought color has been mostly absent for us.

The mist is choice. Love the way it darkens trunks and limbs and lowers contrast. Just raked and hauled most of my color to the curb this morning for pick-up next week. Environment Canada calling for an early whack of winter hereabouts--10 cm++. Wind speed and direction off Lake Huron could boost what's antiseptically known as "lake effect snow." Usually translated as "a crapload."

High today was 70, the low tomorrow night is calling for 24. If you don't like our weather....give it a day, it'll change. I'm not overly fond of cold weather, but the warm trend the last few days, has caused swarms of &^*&% Asian Beetles. They cover the house and hang out around doors, so every time one gets opened the invite themselves in. They leave nasty yellow streaks on white trim, stink, and bite. I sprayed outside today, with Bifen, which supposedly works on them....we'll see.

We're high enough here that the line between fog and low clouds gets blurred.

Up in your part of the world last week, Cape Girardeau, Mo and Grand Tower, IL. Brought my camera thinking there might be some color, but sadly wasnt much better than here.

Ours was peak a couple of weeks ago for trees. Shrubs like burning bushes are still showy.
The fall color Mecca around here is Algonquin Park which, truthfully, I've never shot. Maybe too much of a camera club outing/tripod holes thing for me--just not a herd animal, I'm told. It's gorgeous but I'm happier looking at old Group of Seven paintings and Tom Thomson's landscapes any day.

Nice...mist and/or fog can be a photographer's best friend. Unfortunately, we saw very little color here in northern Illinois this autumn.
