Seems like he only exaggerated the gun being closer than it was and the initial reason they were out of the cab. The latest report is that the only damage to the rest room was a poster ripped down from outside - they never went in, only pulled over to pee behind the building. Then the "police" who were actually off duty prison guards working a private security detail, flashed their official badges and extorted them for money before they were allowed to leave.

It's likely we'll never know all the details of what actually happened.
The thread was intended to be about what the incident was going to cost Ryan Lochte in both tangible and intangible ways.

The point is Ryan Lochte and his companions were Olympic Games participates that got drunk (f'up #1) and got caught acting badly (f'up #2) in the Games host city.
Ryan then convinced his companions to uh, embellish their account of what happened. (f'up #3)
Ryan told his mother that embellished account (f'up #4) and his mother told the embellished story to the news media.

Ryan then promptly skipped town leaving his cohorts behind to deal with the authorities and the media. (f'up #5).
