Im not sad about it.

I agree about the exposure. Black and whites really need to have good shadows and highlights and very little middle gray to work well. The lighting looks too flat here.

Keep trying. Proper lighting is the key.

Nice edit, but now you added some speculat highlight at her skin.
Also her hair is too dark.

Your arms are cut off at a awkward length. It's not pleasing to cut off at joints.

The lighting is too flat, you put the the flash too near the camera (on the camera).

Also your hair is disappearing into the background, especially on the top left.
